Lesson Plan 1 is the first lesson from Unit 4 on the American Revolution. This lesson specifically focuses on if the colonists were justified in deciding to fight for their independence. It covers all of the major factors and events that pushed the colonists towards war. It is an interactive lesson that uses primary sources.
Lesson Plan 2 is titled "The British are Coming" and focuses on the start of the revolution. It covers primary sources like Patrick Henry's "Give me Liberty or Give me Death" speech and the Declaration of Independence. The lesson plan uses Timelinejs to make acquisition more interactive with the students.
Lesson Plan 3 is titled "The Meat of the Revolution" and covers the significant events form the revolution and how these events impacted the outcome of the war. This lesson plan uses Timelinejs as well. I put a focus on minorities during the Revolutionary War by discussing women, Native Americans, and African Americans during the revolution.
Lesson Plan 4 titled "Peace Among Worlds" has an LEQ that says "After the end of the American Revolution, what advancements were made that helped shape the formation of our current system of government?" This lesson focuses on analysis and higher level thinking . In addition, it opens with a song from Hamilton to help get students engaged.
Lesson Plan 5 focuses on the American Revolution as a global event and how it impacted the rest of the world. This lesson involves a World Cafe which creates an engaging environment for debate. It also includes a summative assessment for the students that allows me to see if they are retaining the content of the lesson.
